I believe that UVA was right in having a memorial service for these young men. I believe that it was right for President Ryan to ask for an independent outside prosecutor to lead the investigation. I also believe that the honor system is not functioning and administrative procedure failed when students are shooting other students in the head. Why was this guy on a class trip when he was not part of the class? Why, after pleading guilty to a crime involving firearms, was he allowed to stay in school? Why was he allowed to keep firearms in his dorm room? This makes no sense.
